The Riverlands Jewish Archive will be the first completely digital archive dedicated to the history of the Jewish communities along two of America’s most important rivers: The Ohio and the Mississippi. We are gathering, scanning, and uploading historical materials from current and former Jewish communities from Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Bowling Green, Kentucky, and north to Terre Haute, Indiana. We seek to create an archive for researchers and also an exhibit space for our local communities including photos, digital history projects, and stories from Jewish life in the region

Hear from local young adult leaders about the renewal of Jewish life in this vibrant country!
The Gilda Slifka Internship Program provides undergraduate students with a variety of opportunities to learn about the work of Jewish women’s and gender studies, and to conduct original research in the field. Interns live on the Brandeis University campus in housing provided by HBI and receive a weekly stipend.
The four pillars of the program include assistance to an HBI-affiliated scholar, development of an individual research or art project, weekly outings to research archives and places of Jewish interest and weekly discussions with Jewish studies and gender studies scholars that expose interns to various methodologies and academic frameworks.
(Dec. 1, 2023) Jewish Hilltoppers and the Department of History hosted our third Hanukkah Before You Go celebration. The celebration, which featured a build-your-own-latke bar from Cold Smoke Bagels in Louisville, brought out about 35-40 students and faculty members to commemorate the Jewish festival of lights.
(Nov. 29, 2023) Rabbi Shlomo Litvin of Chabad of the Bluegrass in Lexington visited WKU on Wednesday to help promote the upcoming Hanukkah Before You Go celebration. He came with Hanukkah supplies for WKU's Jewish students and met with students at a meet-and-greet booth in the Downing Student Union.
(Nov. 20, 2023) Dr. Timothy Riggio Quevillon gave a talk on November 20th before the Owensboro Area World Affairs Council. The one-hour talk focused on the creation of Israel, the immigration of Jews from the Diaspora, and the future prospects for peace between Israel and Palestine.
(Nov. 14, 2023) Jewish Hilltoppers were well-represented by students at Washington's March for Israel. The students, who were able to apply for and receive microgrants to offset travel costs.
(Nov. 10, 2023) In response to complaints about pro-Palestinian fliers on campus veering into antisemitism, Dr. Riggio Quevillon met with WBKO news to discuss the nuances between political dissent and antisemitic invective.
