As part of Jewish life at Western Kentucky University, we have robust holiday celebrations for the major Jewish holidays throughout the year, from Rosh Hashanah through Yom HaShoah and beyond.
While we may not have a Jewish Studies program (yet), at WKU we do have a variety of courses that focus on issues related to Jewish life and community. Learn more about Jewish course offerings here.
In addition to Jewish holidays and celebrations, we also host a number of smaller events designed to foster and grow Jewish life on campus and around Bowling Green. These include Shabbat dinners, movie nights, & more.
The next step in growing Jewish studies at Western Kentucky University is the creation of the Riverlands Jewish Archive, a physical and digital collaboration between Jewish Hilltoppers, the WKU Department of History, and the Special Collections archive at Raven Cravens Library. The goal of this collaborative project is to preserve, catalog, and make available historical resources from the current and former Jewish communities of southern Illinois, southern Indiana, southeastern Missouri, northern Tennessee, and western Kentucky.
Archive is anticipated to launch in Fall 2024, and more information will be available soon.
